What are they?

Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed at improving skin hydration, health and overall appearance.

There are many different types on the market.
What do they do?

Contain hyaluronic acid (found naturally in our skin).

Less viscous than fillers due to their bonding structure.

Described as an injectable moisturiser - hyaluronic acid draws in water to help hydrated the skin to give a healthy glow.
Where can they be used?

Usually on the face or neck.
What concerns do they target?

Improve fine lines and wrinkles

Improve overall skin health and glow.

Improve dehydrated looking skin to looking more hydrated and healthy.

Which Skin Boosters?​

At Dr Smith Aesthetics we use 2 skin boosters:

Profhilo - very popular currently as it contains the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid on the market. Can only be used on the lower 2/3rd of the face or neck.

Juvederm Volite - Hyaluronic acid. Can be used anywhere on the face and neck.

Depending on patient demographics, areas of concern and treatment plan - we can help choose the right one for you.
How is it given?​

Volite - Multiple, small, superficial injections in the target area with a small needle (mesotherapy), resulting in small “blebs” under the skin - numbing cream use prior.

Profhilo - delivered with 5 specific injection points on each side o the face to maximise effect (no numbing cream required for this).

What is the downtime/recovery?
-
Mesotherapy/small bleb technique - Small blebs can last a number of hours - few days.
-
Possibility of having minor swelling and bruising for a few days.
-
Discuss which option is best with the practitioner if having a a big event a few days post treatment.

Can have alongside other treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, PRP and polynucleotides.
Treatment course:

Profhilo - 2x sessions, 3-4 weeks apart.

Juvederm Volite - 1x session.

Can have 6 monthly maintenance treatments.
Results
-
Full results noticeable after a few weeks post treatment.

Results should last up to 9 months.
-
Great to combine with other treatments such as polynucleotides.
